AcroYoga Slackline Intensive with Matt Eshleman & Erin Winters

August 4 to August 5

Discover abilities you never knew you had, and meet new friends. In recent years, the YogaSlackers have been blurring the boundaries between classic acroyoga and slacklining. The combination of acro and slacklining creates another level of body awareness that teaches greater balance and connection. It adds diversity, while giving you and your partner more confidence - and it's really fun!

New to AcroYoga? No previous acro yoga experience is required. This workshop is designed to build confidence in a partner practice from the ground up. Understand the underlying mechanics of acro yoga that make it possible, safe, and fun! You CAN do this!

Have some experience? Great! Slackro totally changes the dynamic between flyer and base to a balanced conversation. Polish your technique to improve safety and endurance, and understand the mechanics of balance from highly experienced slackliners.

All ages, heights, weights and levels of experience are welcome! You DO NOT need to bring a partner.

What is acroyoga?

AcroYoga is a practice which blends elements of yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. This playful art cultivates trust and connection between partners, and is as therapeutic as it is fun. Guaranteed to be a good time, and leave you feeling open and inspired - All ages, heights, weights and levels of experience are welcome! You absolutely DO NOT need to bring a partner, but this is truly a practice to share with friends.

What is slackline yoga?

Slackline yoga (or slackasana) is balancing on a 1" piece of webbing lightly tensioned between two anchors. Think tight rope walking, with slack. If you’re looking for an incredible core workout, look no further. You can find your breath in yoga class, but can you find it floating above ground? Despite the seemingly impossible nature of the act, it is achievable by almost anyone with a little bit of perseverance, patience, and guidance under experienced teachers.

Cost: Earlybird pre-registration for entire weekend (To first 6 people to sign up, or by July 1st) = $150

Pre-registration for entire weekend after Earlybird = $175

If you joined us for a previous years Acro/Slack weekend, come again - this one will be different!

Individual session may be taken only by those who meet all listed prerequisites.

Schedule:

Saturday August 4th
10am-noon

FUN-damentals - (2 hours - $30) This is a perfect opportunity to ease into the wide world of AcroYoga. These fundamentals are essential for quick skill progression, breaking down washing machines, and most importantly creating a safe practice. A brief warm-up will lead into partner exercises and introduce the roles of the Base, Flyer, and Spotter - and prepare for the possibility of more challenges to come, like the rest of the weekend!

Pre-reqs: courage

Completing this section will also fulfill all pre-reqs for following sessions.

2-4:30pm

Beyond Basics - (2.5 hours - $40) We highly recommend that participants in this session have completed FUN-damentals on Saturday, or have some other previous experience in AcroYoga. Apply the fundamental principles to more challenging poses, and level up to transitions that allow more dynamic play.

PreReqs: Base/Fly Bird 30seconds, Throne 30seconds, 5 sec per side wounded bird, or FUN-damentals

6-8pm

Slackline basics - (2 hours - $30) Being a Slacker isn’t easy! Discover techniques and tricks to make this challenging practice more accessible. Fundamental slackline skills will include kneeling, sitting, standing, and perhaps even walking on the line.

Pre-reqs: courage

(We will meet at Day Yoga studio and then relocate to a nearby outdoor venue. Plan B in the event of rain - Indoor slacker drills and partner conditioning!)

Sunday August 5th
10am-12:30pm

Intro to Slackro - (2.5 hours - $40) Imagine moves and sequences from the slackline morphed into acro moves. Or imagine using acro to train for more advanced slackline possibilities. Practice similar postures on a slackline and a human. We take the fantastic ideas our minds come up with and we manifest them into a physical reality.

Pre-reqs: Slackline basics, FUNdamentals

(We will meet at Day Yoga studio and then relocate to a nearby outdoor venue. Plan B in the event of rain - Indoor slacker drills and partner conditioning!)

Sunday 2-5pm

Transitions - (3 hours - $50) Explore the secret of sensitivity. Think of acro yoga as a conversation; in a balanced partnership the base and flyer take turns in an active role, and also take time to listen. Who leads, who follows, and when? Take the art of timing into the flow of a “washing machine” (repeating cycle of transitions).

Pre-reqs: Base/Fly Bird 30seconds, Throne 30seconds, 5 sec per side wounded bird, or FUN-damentals

About the Teachers:

YogaSlackers Teachers Matt and Erin are happy, peaceful hippies that love to spread the joy of Acro-Yoga and Slackline. They believe that play and human connection are essential to a fulfilling life, and see these arts as a way to build trust and communication with others, as well as bad-ass skills. Their classes offer fun challenges for everyone from brand-new beginners to experienced practitioners.

*There is a $50 deposit build into the full weekend and $15 deposit for single sessions. There will be no refunds within 30 days of the start date of the workshop.
